The Management Study Program of Universitas Internasional Batam held a Workshop on Integration of Vision, Mission, Achievements of Management Studies in the OBE Curriculum on Monday (12/7). This workshop was held with the aim of developing the vision, mission and achievements of the Management Study Program in the Outcome Based Education (OBE) Curriculum. The workshop was attended by more than 100 participants through the Zoom platform and the UIB Youtube Channel. All participants came from various universities such as UIB, UNP, IPB, UPB and various other institutions in Indonesia. This activity invites BM. Purwanto, MBA, Ph.D. as a resource person and expert in the field of OBE curriculum preparation and international accreditation. In his presentation, Dr. Purwanto started with an explanation of the vision and mission as the basis for his work. Mission describes the reasons for the organization’s existence such as goals, stakeholders, values and beliefs. Dr. Purwanto explained that the vision, mission and goals must be clearly distinguished and as much as possible involve themselves in international challenges. In addition, the development of the vision and mission must also be followed by the development of lecturers to become more competent and a better graduate profile in accordance with their vision and mission.
The activity was followed by a discussion session between the workshop participants and the resource persons. Dr. Purwanto emphasized the vision and mission as well as the resulting values will describe the profile of graduates and produce learning outcomes that will have an impact on the institution. The influence of the vision and mission on the resulting graduate profile will include the knowledge, skills and attitudes acquired by graduates during learning in the study program in accordance with the vision and mission set by the study program. The profile of graduates should also be focused on their competencies, not the work of the graduates. The resource persons also continued that the graduate’s attributes must consist of personal capabilities, competence in certain disciplines, professional attributes and ethical and social attributes. Of course, these various insights illustrate the importance of good planning in the vision, mission and achievements of the Institute and Study Program. All of these insights have become very valuable inputs for UIB and the Study Program in developing their vision, mission and learning outcomes. In the next session, UIB internal parties also immediately developed the vision and mission of UIB in accordance with the insights that had been obtained in the first session. The development of the new vision and mission was mentored directly by Dr. Purwanto.
