The Management Study Program Universitas Internasional Batam (UIB) in collaboration with the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) held a Workshop on Increasing Lecturer Capability in Data Analysis and Interpretation (2nd session) in quantitative research. This workshop was attended by 90 participants from various parties such as UIB, UNP, LLDIKTI IX, STIE Bentara Persada, Jakarta Polytechnic, Ibnusina University, STIKES Hang Tuah, STIE Jayakusuma, USCND, and other agencies in Indonesia. This workshop is a follow-up session of the Workshop on Increasing Lecturer Capability in Data Analysis and Interpretation funded by the Program Kompetisi Kampus Merdeka (PKKM) Grant from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbud Ristek). The workshop was opened by the MC, Aan Andriawan, S.Pd., M.T., and was welcomed by the Head of UIB LPPM, Ni’matul Ma’muriyah, M.Eng. After that, it was continued with the introduction of the speaker’s CV by the Moderator, Dr. Johnny Budiman. The speaker of the workshop was Irwan Trinugroho, S.E., M.Sc., Ph.D. (Sebelas Maret University) who is an expert in the field of international journal publication and currently a facilitator at Scientific Publication, Ministry of Research and Technology. The speaker emphasized that the considerations in choosing topics for quantitative papers or articles were contributing to body knowledge, mature subject or timely issues, single country or cross country, and single contribution or multiple contributions in one paper. He also revealed that in choosing the type of research, we can also look at previous studies and consider what variables can be developed. In conducting research, it is also not wrong to choose interdisciplinary research, especially on several potential issues to enrich the paper and increase the possibility of publication.

Irwan Trinugroho, S.E., M.Sc., Ph.D. also explained that, in writing research, it must start from a well-organized paper structure; starting from a literature review, methodology, result, and analysis which are then compiled into an abstract that summarizes the entire paper. The speaker also mentioned that the sampling must be a good representative of the total population studied and prevent bias in selecting the sample. In addition to determining the sample, researchers must also be able to process various variables and use various analyses when drawing conclusions to state the most appropriate conclusions that can represent their research. The speaker also explained that it is necessary to pay attention to the different (DiD) methods by identifying the effect of treatment, identifying the group, intervention time, and immediate impact on the study. In the review of several studies, the speaker often finds research that is too simple since the analysis is less complex and the literature review is still less credible. All of these insights and inputs have become very valuable knowledge for LPPM and all participants of the workshop. It can certainly be an essential reference for UIB LPPM in developing the quality of research as well as improving the lecturers’ analytical skills and data interpretation.
