The Management Study Program with the Internal Quality Assurance Institute (LPMI) Universitas Internasional Batam (UIB) held a Workshop on Modification of the Internal Quality Assurance System (SPMI) under the Outcome-Based Education (OBE) Paradigm. This activity was funded by the Kampus Merdeka Competition Program (PKKM) of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek). This activity was attended by 160 participants who came from UIB itself and other educational institutions in Batam and outside Batam. The activity was started by Moderator Hilarius Raditya Purba, S.Pd., M.Pd. and was welcomed and opened by the Rector of UIB, Dr. Iskandar Itan. Then the activity continued with the presentation of material by the resource person in this activity, namely Prof. Dr. Laurentius Hartanto Nugroho, M.Agr. who is the Head of the Education Quality Assurance Division of the Gadjah Mada University Quality Assurance Office (KJM UGM) and a lecturer at the UGM Faculty of Biology who has been accredited with ASIIN International. In his presentation, he explained that quality culture must be contained in a separate mindset, attitude pattern, and behavior pattern. In the preparation of a good quality culture, it must be based on the current standards of higher education. Apart from the quality culture, the implementation of SPMI also requires a good mental attitude, not only in the LPMI team itself but including the lecturers as well.
Prof. Dr. Laurentius Hartanto Nugroho, M.Agr. explained in its preparation, aspects that can be considered are quality, stakeholders in, the next processes are our stakeholders, speak with data and upstream management. In aligning SPMI with OBE itself, it must also be adjusted to the OBE principles, namely focusing on learning outcomes, designing curriculum based on achievements, alignment between assessments, learning processes, and learning outcomes, creating a conducive learning environment, implementing the P-D-C-A cycle. In its implementation, it is also necessary to take steps such as planning in a substantial and external scope, the implementation that pays attention to methods, materials, diversity, and learning facilities, monitoring and evaluation as well as sustainable development. The second session was attended by 40 participants from the rectorate, bureau, and study programs at UIB. The discussion was conducted by discussing the description of the internal quality assurance system (SPMI) at UIB itself which was guided by the Head of LPMI Ria Karina, SE., MM. The resource person then asked for a more detailed explanation for the UIB SPMI which was being presented and the discussion was also going well and comprehensively. Prof. Dr. L Hartanto Nugroho, M.Agr. also gave a lot of input on what should be stated in the UIB SPMI policy documents and manuals. All of these inputs are very valuable points for the development of SPMI documents, especially the SPMI UIB policies and manuals. In the future, discussions will be held again during September and October for the arrangement of SPMI under the OBE paradigm at UIB with the hope that the implementation of SPMI under the OBE paradigm can run well at UIB.
