On Monday, September 13, 2021, the Management Study Program and the Internal Quality Assurance Institute (LPMI) of Universitas Internasional Batam (UIB) held an Internal Discussion Review of UIB Research Standards Documents as part of a series of sessions for Experts in Structuring the Internal Quality Assurance System (SPMI) following the Outcome-Based Education (OBE) Paradigm. This activity is funded by the Independent Campus Competition Program (PKKM) of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek). The Internal Discussion was attended by the entire UIB SPMI Document Team and lecturers from study programs and bureaus at UIB. This discussion invited Experts from UGM, Prof. Dr. Laurentius Hartanto Nugroho, M.Agr. In this discussion, the discussion carried out was about the standard research documents at UIB. The resource persons provided input and feedback on research standards and were responded to by the UIB SPMI Document Team, especially in the research standards document section. In the discussion, resource persons provided input in determining the minimum criteria that must be adjusted so that UIB itself can obtain an international level, especially in the Rational Standard component. In the statement of contents, standards also need to accommodate various things in accreditation instruments, both national and international. Apart from that, the determination of indicators of achievement of standards is also important, where research must be directed towards quality rather than quantity of research by its lecturers. Research Results Standards should also be adapted to Independent Campus Independent Learning activities (MBKM), such as student research activities that can be recognized in MBKM Research activities. Hence, students get credit recognition for their research outside of the final project research.
The discussion continued to discuss other standard research documents. The input also given by resource persons on the implementation strategy must also be reviewed and updated under the latest existing regulations. The determination of the research time must also be referred to from the credits that students will get if they do research, if the research is under the final project, then the calculation must be following the final credits. In the standard document of facilities and infrastructure, Prof. Dr. L. Hartanto Nugroho, M. Agr. Also, provide input on standard content statements that need to be made in a standard format and infrastructure must be adapted to the needs of the university. In the main indicators of research facilities and infrastructure, it is necessary to pay attention to the importance of tools, maintenance, calibration, and equipment checking schedules. In terms of funding standards and research funding, resource persons also provide input so that funding is adjusted to the availability of funds. For research assessment standards, it is necessary to ensure that the standard content statement must comply with Permendikti. The SMPMI Document Team will soon implement the formulation of Research Standards by considering inputs from Prof. Dr. L. Hartanto Nugroho, M.Agr. This activity is expected to provide new insights for the development of research standards to have a more international reputation.
