Universitas Internasional Batam is one of the recipients of the 2019 Digital Learning Innovation Development Assistance Fund from the Directorate of Learning, the Directorate General of Learning and Student Affairs, the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education (IPD-UIB Program in 2019). This activity is a stimulus in accelerating the development of digital learning in Universitas Internasional Batam. The 2019 IPD-UIB program also contributed to improve quality and expanding accessibility to the administration of education and teaching at Universitas Internasional Batam. This program is also one of the efforts to improve the quality of Higher Education services at Universitas Internasional Batam, namely the implementation of blended learning that optimizes the use of ICT by using a platform developed by Universitas Internasional Batam or Learning Management System, this learning media is expected to be used later to replace some meetings conventionally in class as usual being a virtual meeting. This activity is carried out from September to November 2019.
In the period program of this digital learning innovation development lecturers at Universitas Internasional Batam developed 28 (twenty-eight) courses that were projected to be applied in the coming semester. The developed courses consist of representative courses from all undergraduate programs at Universitas Internasional Batam, namely the Compulsory General Course (MKWU) with a total of 7 courses, in the exact sciences consisting of 10 (ten) courses, and the social field consists out of 11 (eleven) courses developed.
Thursday, December 19, 2019, the Universitas Internasional Batam through the Academic Development Center held a meeting with all lecturers developing digital learning innovations to submit awards and officially close the program for this 2019 period which was attended by the Chancellor of Universitas Internasional Batam Mr. Dr. Iskandar Itan, and Vice-Chancellor I for Academic Affairs Dr. Meiliana. The Chancellor of Universitas Internasional Batam Dr. Iskandar Itan conveyed his message to all the development lecturers “To answer this era of digitalization, I hope a program like this does not stop here and the results of this activity I hope it can be implemented in the following semester” said a message from the Chancellor of the Universitas Internasional Batam.
Educational activities using this blended learning method will begin to be held consistently in the next semester, and it is hoped that this learning method can improve the quality of learning available at UIB and become a new learning style for millennial UIB students.
