The Directorate General of Tax (DJP) of the Riau Islands Regional Office collaborates with the UIB Tax and Accounting Center and the Batam International University (UIB) Bachelor of Accounting Program to hold annual activities to improve service quality and support the inclusion of tax awareness. This routine activity is called the 2020 Tax Volunteer Program. Participants in this activity are students and lecturers from various Undergraduate Programs in Batam International University, namely Accounting, Management, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology, Tourism Technology, and Tourism. Architecture Study Program, Civil Engineering Study Program, English Education Study Program and Law Study Program. The target of tax volunteers aimed at students and lecturers is devoted to providing e-filing assistance for Annual Tax Return WP OP 1770S and 1770 SS. Before plunging directly into the community, the students and lecturers involved were provided with training in advance so that the implementation process of mentoring could go according to what had been targeted.

This year, the tax volunteer training activity was held for four days, starting from 1-6 February 2020. This activity took place in the UIB computer laboratory room and was opened by the head of the accounting undergraduate program Ria Karina, SE., MM. The training instructors consisted of UIB lecturers and representatives from the Riau Islands DGT Regional Office.

Tax volunteer activities are the first step for UIB and the Regional Office of the DJP Kepri to contribute directly to the community. Besides, this activity is expected to be able to change the behavior of taxpayers in understanding the importance of taxes for the survival of the life of the nation and state. Let’s make the golden generation of Indonesia smart and tax conscious!
