Batam (25/2/2021) – Universitas Internasional Batam (UIB) has completed the first international conference entitled The 1st CoMBInES (Conference on Management, Business, Innovation, Education and Social Sciences). This conference was held by the UIB Research and Community Service Institute (LPPM) on Wednesday, February 24, 2021.
The 1st CoMBInES 2021 is the first international conference initiated by UIB together with Tunghai University-THU (Taiwan), Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman-UTAR (Malaysia) as Host. This activity was carried out thanks to the support of various colleagues from other universities as Co-Hosts, namely: Andrews University (United States), Universitas Andalas -UNAND (Indonesia) and Trisakti School of Management-TSM (Indonesia) and other participating universities to send participants. The aim of The CoMBInES is an effort to provide space for lecturers and students in the fields of Management, Business, Engineering and Social Sciences to present the results of research that has been carried out. The CoMBInES will become a regular annual agenda with alternating locations as the host college.
The activities of The 1st CoMBInES 2021 are divided into two sessions. The first session was a seminar with the theme “Innovation and Business which began with the opening by Plt. The Director of Research and Community Service of the Ministry of Research and Technology / National Agency for Research and Innovation, namely Prof. Dr. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng and continued with the presentation of keynote speakers from various universities. Keynote speakers consist of Prof. Distinguished. Dr. Ying-Chyi Chou from Tunghai University, Taiwan; Associate Provost Ralph Trecartin, Ph.D., MBA from Andrews University; United States, Associate Dean Dr. Jerry Chi, MBA, Ph.D from Andrews University, United States; Assist Prof. Dr. Pok Wei Fong from Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman, Malaysia; Prof. Dr. Ansofino, M.Si from the Sekolah Tinggi Keguruan Ilmu Pendidikan (STKIP) PGRI, West Sumatra, Indonesia; Efa Yonnedi, Ph.D from Universitas Andalas, Indonesia; Dr. Elza Syarief, SH., MH from Universitas Internasional Batam, Indonesia; and Dr. Hepy Hefri Arianto from Universitas Internasional Batam, Indonesia.
The second session is a conference in the form of exposure to research results from 354 participants divided into 410 parallel sessions (30 Indonesian language rooms and 10 English language rooms). Each participant will present their presentation for 8 minutes to the Chairsman in their respective rooms and continue with a question and answer session. The results of the written assessment and presentation techniques will be summarized for the award. The committee designed various forms of awards for the speakers, such as Best Student Paper, Best Student Presenter, and Best Poster.
The closing of The 1st CoMBInES 2021 activity was held at 16.00 WIB with awards for participants who won Best Paper, Best Presenter and Best Poster. Then Prof. Dr. Herri, MBA as the Head of LLDIKTI Region X gave the closing remarks to end this activity. The 2nd CoMBInES 2022 will be held in Taiwan with Tung-Hai University as the host.
UIB hopes that this activity can provide enthusiasm and motivation for students to continue doing research.
