In the midst of a pandemic, it is of course important to increase a sense of concern for others. With the development of technology over time, technology can be a tool that can be empowered to generate greater social impact. Therefore, the Information System Study Program Student Association of Universitas Internasional Batam initiated an activity entitled social webinars. The social webinars that we organize are webinars that do not only have a social theme but also have a call to action for social activities in it.
The series of social webinar activities began with a national webinar with the theme of “Youth Impact in the Digital Era” which was held on Sunday, January 31, 2021. This activity has the aim of fostering a sense of social care for others, helping community groups in need, increasing and strengthening the ties of brotherhood with the wider community, as well as increasing the social insight of the community, especially the younger generation. This national webinar was held using Microsoft Teams media and was attended by 312 participants from all over Indonesia. This national webinar activity was opened by Jonathan, as the moderator, who is also a member of the HMPS SI UIB, to welcome the speakers and participants, and to provide instructions for attendance and questions and answers to the speakers. Before starting the webinar activity, it was started first by singing the Indonesia Raya National Anthem and continued with the presentation of material by the speakers and ended with QnA (question and answer) which was delivered directly by the moderator. Participants actively provided questions during the question and answer session in progress.
As mentioned earlier, the activities did not just end in the webinar, but there were also calls to action for social activities. The social activity action that HMPS SI UIB is encouraging is raising funds for the Farhan Farouq orphanage in Batam. This is motivated by a sense of concern for the condition of the surrounding environment, especially during this pandemic, so we, HMPS SI UIB, want to invite fellow young people to contribute to society by holding this fundraising. In the end, this fundraising was channeled through social service activities intended for the Farhan Farouq Batam Orphanage. This social activity exists with the enthusiasm of the community for the community. During the webinar sessions, the treasurer raised funds that would be fully donated to the Farhan Farouq Batam Orphanage located at Puri Gracia Housing – Sei Temiang, Tanjung Riau Village, Sekupang District, Batam City. Fundraising will continue to open until February 27, 2021.
From this fundraising, HMPS Information Systems managed to raise IDR 1,200,000 of which this donation was donated to the Farhan Farouq Batam Orphanage on Sunday, March 7, 2021. It is hoped that this social webinar activity can bring benefits in the form of relationships, knowledge which is beneficial for the future, and most importantly, raises awareness to continue to have a social impact on society.
