First International Community Service Conference at UIB, The 1st Conference on Community Engagement Project (ConCEPt) 2021

Batam, the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) Universitas Internasional Batam (UIB) held The 1st Conference on Community Engagement Project (ConCEPt) on Wednesday, March 03, 2021 with the theme “Improving the Quality of Community Service Integrated to Pillar of Education”.

 

The 1st ConCEPt is the first international conference as a form of dissemination of the results of community service for lecturers and students that can be implemented to the community. The UIB Research and Community Service Institute organizes this activity with the cooperation and support of various parties, especially domestic and foreign university partners. Indonesian university partners involved, namely: Universitas Andalas, Trisakti School of Management, Universitas Ciputra, Universitas Kristen Maranatha. Meanwhile, partners from foreign universities are: King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (Thailand), Vietnam National University, Ho Chin Minh City (Vietnam), Youngsan University (South Korea) and Nanjing Xiaozhuang (China).

 

Participants in 1st ConCEPt 2021 were attended by approximately 400 students and lecturers, 347 speakers, divided into 3 parallel classes in English and 32 parallel classes in Indonesian, and 70 lecturers as Chair Sessions in each parallel class. Furthermore, the disseminated articles will be published in the ConCEPt Proceedings which are e-ISSN.

 

1st ConCEPt 2021 was opened with an opening speech by the Chancellor of UIB, Mr. Dr. Iskandar Itan, followed by a policy presentation from the Ministry of Education and Culture regarding the implementation of “Independent Campus” which was delivered by the Secretary of the Directorate General of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education and Culture, Mrs. Dr. Ir. Paristiyanti Nurwardani, M.P. Then proceed with the presentation from domestic and foreign keynote speakers including:

  1. Teerawut Muhummud from King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi, Thailand, with the topic “Community Projects for Minority in Thailand – Muslim Youth”.
  2. Jihyun Park, LL.D from Youngsan University, South Korea, with the topic “Community Engagement Projects in Korea & YSU”.
  3. Lien Tran, Ph.D from the University of Economics and Law – VNUHCM, Vietnam, with the topic “Comprehensive Community Engagement Projects at the University of Economics and Law”.
  4. Hayley Wang, MA is a lecturer from Nanjing Xiaozhuang University, China, with the topic “Research on Connotative Development of Undergraduate Valunteer Teaching Assistance Services- A case study of Nanjing Xiaozhuang University”.
  5. Dr. Christina Whidya Utami, MM., CLC., CPM, from Universitas Ciputra Surabaya, Indonesia, with the topic, “The Dynamics of Venture Creation: Process, Growth and Sustainability”. and
  6. Peter, S.E., M.T, from Universitas Kristen Maranatha., Indonesia, with the topic, “Bright Future Investment: Financial Planning for The Unmarried.
  7. Tri Suhartati, M.Pd, from Universitas Internasional Batam, with the topic “Student Creativities Program”.

 

This ConCEPt activity was closed with a closing speech from Prof. Dr. Herri, MBA, as the Head of LLDikti Region X and also ended with the announcement of the winners of the Instagram Festival and awards for speakers as Best Paper and Best Presenter. The name of the winner is also listed on Instagram LPPM UIB @ lppm.uib. Furthermore, The ConCEPt will become an annual international conference for the dissemination of the results of the implementation of community service activities. (af)
