Four UIB Accounting Students Join National Essay Competition at Budi Luhur University

The four UIB Accounting Study Program students take part in the National Essay Competition held by Budi Luhur University since June 19, 2019 with the theme “Building Ethics and Integrity of the Accounting Profession in the Digital Era.” Universitas Internasional Batam sent two teams to participate in the Budi National Essay Competition Luhur consisting of a Cost n Benefit Team consisting of Merinda Wijaya (1742155) and Mariska Ramadana (1742150) as well as from the AOCI Team consisting of Hadianto (1742091) and Bonadea Visakha (1742079).

The National Essay Competition is one of a series of BL PART 8 events which is a scientific paper competition in the form of Essays for University Students in Indonesia with the first stage, namely the collection of essays and will be selected by the top 10 best teams that will advance to the final round.

With the struggle and enthusiasm emitted by UIB accounting students, the Essays made by the two teams passed to the final round held at Budi Luhur University, South Jakarta on 15-16 October 2019. The series of events for 2 (two) days in Jakarta consisted of Technical Meeting to prepare the final round, Field trip to Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), presentation of the final round and finally Gala Dinner. On Tuesday (15/10) participants attended a technical meeting in the morning and then carried out a Field trip to TMII. NEC Contest participants visited several places in TMII, one of them was the Keong Mas Theater which showed films about the legend of the golden snail.

After traveling to TMII, the next day was a tense day for the two teams from UIB because it began to enter the final round by presenting the essay text that had been made and would compete with well-known universities in Indonesia from Jakarta, Bali, Surabaya, and Surakarta.

On Sunday (10/16) morning, the Cost and Benefit Team received number 2 (two) to present an essay entitled “FRAUD DETECTOR: The Power of Ethical Culture to Minimize Fraud in Companies”. Furthermore, the AOCI TEAM who received number 3 (Three) who will present the essay text that has been made under the title “The Role of Students as Auditor Angel in the Implementation of Outcome Based Learning.” In the final round, the judges were judged by P2PK, Heliantono KAP & Basyirudin & Rekan’s KAP Recorders.

The results of the announcement of the winner of the National Essay Competition Budi Luhur will be announced during the gala dinner which is a dinner with colleagues Budi Luhur PART 8. The gala dinner event was so lively filled with theater performances and other musical entertainment. While waiting for the announcement, the NEC participants were presented with a dinner prepared by the BL PART 8 committee. When the announcement of the winners arrived, the NEC participants seemed enthusiastic to hear the announcement and the results of the announcement stated that the winner of the 1st place came from Airlangga University, the 3rd place winner 2 came from the Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta and the 3rd place came from Parahyangan Catholic University. Whereas the Cost n Benefit Team occupies the 5th position and the 10th AOCI Team.

Defeat is not the end of events, make defeat a learning process so that it can be better. Although the two teams from UIB did not achieve victory, but the selection of the two teams from UIB into the top 10 is an appreciation to be proud of Universitas Internasional Batam.
