Universitas Internasional Batam collaborated with Kanagawa Institute of Technology held a webinar on May 18th – 20th 2020. The webinar, titled “Human-Centric Technology”, had 3 speakers from KAIT, Japan and 8 speakers from UIB (in which 6 of them are students), with Tony Wibowo, S.Kom., MMSI and Dwinta Suci Antari as the moderator. The webinar was free and open to public. It was held using Microsoft Teams.

Each day had two sessions. The first at 13.00-14.00 (GMT +7) and the second at 15.00-16.00 (GMT+7). On May 18th 2020, the first session was brought by Professor Yuichi Bannai, titled “Introduction to Artificial Intelligence: Basics and Its Application”. He also briefly explained how it was applied by the Japanese government in this pandemic. For the second session, Professor Hiroshi Tanaka brought the topic of “Introduction to Mobile Communication and towards 5G”. At the end of each session, there was a short Q&A section provided for the attendees to ask questions to the speaker.

 

 

May 19th 2020, as the speaker of the first session, Professor Kosuke Takano presented “Brief Survey of Challenging Information Technology for Coping with COVID-19”, a topic that is very appropriate for these times. Meanwhile, Dr. Hendi Sama spoke about “Introduction to Text and Image Generation in Machine Learning” for his session. On the last day of the webinar, Tony Wibowo, S.Kom., MMSI brought “How Video Game Industry Changed with Social Distancing”, a topic that came up as people are encouraged to social distance, or, in some cases, self-quarantine.

The webinar was closed with the students’ presentation. The topics brought are “Photography: Pandemic Situation” by Edi Hendry, “Programming Tips for Beginner by a Beginner” by Patrick Pratama Hendri, “Experiences in Teaching Through Online Learning” by Balqish Ar-Roffiah Suut and Kurniati, “COVID-19 Architecture through Human Centric Implementation Method” by Indah Yunita, and lastly, “The Implementation of Building Information Modeling (BIM) on Construction Project” by Ryan Swardana.
