Universitas Internasional Batam (UIB) encourages students and lecturers to be involved in the MBKM program. One of the programs organized by the Kampus Merdeka is the Certified Independent Study Program. The Certified Independent Study and Internship Program (MSIB) is organized by the Ministry of Education and Culture in collaboration with the mantra of the Business World and the Industrial World (DUDI). This program aims to provide opportunities for students to learn and develop themselves through activities outside the class, but are still recognized as part of lectures and credits. This program aims to equip interested students to master specific and practical competencies through learning activities at DUDI.
The Certified Independent Study Program opens registration from June 10 to July 31, 2021. Before students register for the program, UIB through ADC conducts socialization to students to provide information and encourage students to register. Then, interested students participating in the program are facilitated by the campus by providing a letter of recommendation and other required requirements. Then, students can register on the official website of Kampus Merdeka. After registering and fulfilling administrative requirements, students are then selected by partners and will receive an email statement of graduation from the partner where they registered. The selection process is assessed objectively and directly by the company; therefore, students who have passed and participated in the program have outstanding qualifications.
In this Independent Study program, nine UIB students graduated as participants. UIB students who passed the program were Ryo Kusnadi, Ananda Wiradharma, Kelvin, William Surya Jaya, Amalia Putri Yulandi, Ricky Andi Kurniawan, Kelvin, Alvi Geovanny, and Kisusyenni Venessa from the Information Systems study program. The student will later commit to running an Independent Study program for the first semester or the equivalent of 20 credits at an independent study place that is declared to have passed.
By joining this program, UIB students are expected to be able to equip themselves with the hard skills and soft skills competencies learned during the program and can continue to develop these competencies to prepare themselves to be more experienced before entering the world of work or career. Hopefully, UIB students can continue to contribute to the program implemented by the Merdeka Campus and be useful for strengthening student competence. (Academic Development Center-ADC)
