Universitas Internasional Batam (UIB) sent three students to compete in the 2019 National Accounting Challenge held by the STAN State Financial Polytechnic from November 7 to November 12, 2019. NAC 2019 competed for the Republic of Indonesia Ministry of Finance rotating trophy held every two years with participants consists of students from all over Indonesia. The Universitas Internasional Batam Team consisted of (successively from the left) Wiwy Riana (1742055), Khelvin Rudianto (1642085), and Merinda Wijaya (1742155).

Before qualifying for the Final Round at STAN, participants took part in the preliminary round on October 17, 2019 to screen the 25 best teams throughout Indonesia who were entitled to advance to the next round. The result was that UIB was in fifth position and became regional champion 2 consisting of Riau, Riau Islands, Bangka Belitung, Jambi, Bengkulu, South Sumatra, and Lampung.

The series of events for 6 (six) days consisting of Technical Meeting, Audit Seminar, Company Visit, Audit Challenge, City Tour, Thinkfast Challenge, Accounting Futures Issues Challenge, and Closing Ceremony. In the first round of this race, the UIB team had to compete for the top 10 to qualify for the semi-finals. The first round consisted of working on short questions, solving comprehensive questions, and working on audit cases. The announcement of the team that passed the semifinal was done at the end of a series of city tour events which stated the UIB team passed along with 9 other teams.

Unfortunately the positive trend must be stopped in the semifinals where the UIB team fails to become the 5 best teams in the next round. The results of this activity are Champion 1 won by Trisakti School of Management, Champion 2 is won by Universitas Peliha Harapan, and Champion 3 is won by Trisakti School of Management. Even so, the UIB Team did not go home empty-handed because it had managed to become regional champion 2 in the preliminary round.

The defeat is not the end of the struggle, but rather used as an evaluation for participants and can be used as a provision for future experience.
