UIB Law Science Student Wins 1st Place in National Scientific Writing Competition

The Faculty of Law, State University of Semarang held a National Student Competition Event entitled “2nd UNNES Law Festival (ULF) 2021”. The 2nd ULF 2021 consists of 3 competitions, namely the Criminal Section Scientific Writing Competition, the State Administrative Law Section Scientific Writing Competition, and the Civil-Trade Section Scientific Writing Competition.

Universitas Internasional Batam’s Bachelor of Law Program certainly does not want to waste this opportunity. UIB’s Legal Studies Study Program sent 1 (one) student to the KTI for the Civil-Trade Sector, namely Winnie Stevanie – 2051001.

At the 2nd UNNES Law Festival (ULF) 2021, the total selected applicants were 43 students from 18 universities in Indonesia. Then, based on the results of the preliminary selection, 12 students were selected for the Grand Final.

UIB Law Science student is one of the 12 grand finalists competing with other students from Semarang State University, University of Indonesia, Brawijaya University, Hasanudin University, Sebelas Maret University, and Indonesian Islamic University.

At the peak event for the announcement of the winners which was held on June 21, 2021, Winnie Stevanie was chosen as the 1st Winner of Scientific Writing in the Civil-Trade field. In the KTI she wrote, Winnie raised the title “The Urgency of Data Protection for Financial Technology Users Against Online Crime in Indonesia”

“I am very grateful to all parties, especially my parents for their support and trust. In addition, it is an honour and pride for me personally because by this achievement I am more able to give my best. Hopefully by this achievement, I can make UIB and the people around me proud,” said Winnie when asked about her message and impression of the achievements.

“This extraordinary achievement is certainly something to be grateful for. UIB’s Bachelor of Law Program gives the highest appreciation to Winnie Stevanie for her persistence and fighting spirit in providing the best for her alma mater. We also convey a big thank you to Mr. Hari Sutra Disemadi, S.H., M.H as a mentor who has guided Winnie so that she can finally get an achievement at the national level,” said Rahmi Ayunda, S.H., M.H. Head of the Law Sciences Study Program UIB.

Winnie’s achievements prove that the Covid-19 pandemic is not a reason to be discouraged, instead, use it as an opportunity to develop oneself, to fill college years with valuable things.
